Our very own Tru:Tek‘s latest sofubi is set to make its debut at Designer Con ’16 this weekend

  • A follow up to the hugely popular Oozeball, Sumoggubōru (roughly translated as Smog Ball) has been heavily inspired by smog monster kaiju – Bemon’s classic Kougai in particular – featuring a unique 360° rotatable mouth, 6 eyes which convey a wealth of expressions, as well as innumerable hidden details including power stations, waste pipes and even a micro Ooze-It for good measure!
  • Designed, painted and produced by Tru:Tek, sculpted by UME Toys
  • Debut version painted in a mix of flesh, teal, red, silver and metalluic blue sprays over a blue/grey vinyl
  • Going on sale at the Tru:Tek/Rampage Toys Designer Con ’16 booth (#933) this Saturday, November 19th

Gory Hole’s Warui Zonbi: Series 1 sticker and pin sets revealed…

With news a little slow today (read: non existent!), we’ve decided to share an upcoming toy-related release from our very own Tru:Tek’s Gory Hole imprint… the Warui Zonbi sticker and enamel pin packs! Featuring Series 1’s SS Wolfgang and zombie baby Selwyn, the pair have been reimagined by famed Japanese horror illustrator Kotobuki Man in his instantly recognisable style, with a group Bikkuriman-style holographic sticker and an SS soft enamel lapel pin marking the first release. Going on sale alongside a plethora of Warui Zonbi one-off sofubi, new Gory Hole t-shirt preorders as well as a number of other pin designs over the next couple of weeks, we suggest keeping a close eye here and on the Gory Hole Instagram feed for the full, exclusive lowdown soon…

Teased here earlier in the week, we can now reveal that the FINAL squeaky Oozeball sofubi from The Disarticulators – the “Cheezy Moon” edition – is now up for grabs in the Rampage Toys store! Having seen over 20 releases across 9 different colorways throughout the past 12 months since it’s debut, the balls designer – our very own editor, Tru:Tek – has decided to lay the figure to rest for the time being to focus on upcoming Gory Hole releases- so whilst you can expect the odd painted release, one-offs and the odd marbled release, this will be the very last time a squishy, squeaker fitted edition will be available at retail. Cast in a “moon cheese” yellow super-soft sofubi, the figure is currently up for grabs right here via open preorder for just $50 plus shipping. We’re told the ordering window will be open through the New Year festivities for all your post-holiday buying pleasure…

As promised yesterday, we bring you Part 2 of our Designer Con ’15 round-up ahead of crossing the Atlantic tomorrow to go to the event ourselves. Expect a final post detailing the remaining exclusives our very own Tru:Tek will have up for grabs later today, but apart from that, this will be the last you hear from us until we descend on the Pasadena Convention Centre this weekend…

Goccodo’s DCon booth// Master Japanese toy maker Goccodo will once again be making an appearance at DCon with a whole slew of figures from his back catalog. Joining the all-new Strong Smell Cyclops (pictured) in a neon green, the RealxHead Bearos, Astro Unkotsu and Kiaida-kun sofubi will all be joining the fray. Pricing, edition size and drop times are all still to be confirmed…

Errants carded sets from UhOh Toys// UhOh‘s adorable Errants sofubi will be returning for DCon in a deluxe carded set! Featuring all 3 characters in a variety of one-off hand painted colorways, each set comes packed with a pull-back car that can be fitted with an Errant head. Limited to 6 sets, these will be available from Monster Circus and Bwana Spoons’ booth (#1102) for an undisclosed sum…

The Mini Mockbats from Unbox Industries// The wait is finally over, Unbox have just revealed that Paul Kaiju‘s Mini Mockbat will be making its debut at DCon! Digitally scaled down from the original sculpt to around 3.75″, the fully articulated figure has been reproduced in a variety of different colored soft vinyl, with 4 versions available each day at the con for just $40 each.

The BC Blasters from James Groman x TAG// Another project we’ve been waiting an age to arrive, the BC Blasters from James Groman will finally be making an appearance at Toy Art Gallery‘s DCon booth! Limited to 4 different designs, each has been produced by TAG in an unpainted army green soft vinyl for this first release. Pricing and edition size are still to be confirmed…

The Rampage Warui Zonbi set// Whilst not strictly a DCon exclusive, we thought we’d share this hand painted Warui Zonbi set from Rampage Toys that Tru:Tek will have on display alongside the debut yellow edition- of which we can now confirm will be limited to 20 sets featuring both Selwyn and SS Wolfgang for $50 each. Look out for limited amounts on both days at Skinner’s booth…

Turbopistola’s DCon booth// Sharing a booth with Nikejerk this year, Daniel Smith aka Turbopistola has revealed that he’ll have a whole load of wallet friendly customs, resin figures, pins and more available, including the “Gold” edition Elephantos for just $20. Unable to attend the con? Then you’ll be glad to know that the tusked beast will also be available through the Turbopistola online store right here.

The DCon exclusive Kaibutsu Sets from KtoKto// Toy Art Gallery are proud to reveal that they’ll have a number of exclusive Kaibutsu (Monster) sets from KtoKto up for grabs at their booth (#1221). Going by the above pic, it would appear that the release will centre around the latest series (3), featuring the new frank, dracula and tombstone sofubi minis. Pricing and edition size are still to be confirmed…

We’re very proud to unveil the third exclusive our very own Tru:Tek will have up for grabs at Designer Con ’15 this weekend, “Bloody Balls” sofubi from The Disarticulators! The first and quite possibly last fully painted run of Oozeballs from our resident blogger, the Zectron-sculpted figure has been produced in a flesh tone soft vinyl this time around, coming with layers of crimson Monster Kolor sprays, rubs and hand painted detailing complete with a horrific glistening gloss finish. Limited to a run of just 6 figures, each coming packed in a custom sprayed and dyed linen bag, the “Bloody Balls” will be available from Tru:Tek via Skinner‘s DCon booth this weekend for $70 each…

 Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has been working his magic on yet more of the Disarticulators’ Oozeball sofubi, proudly presenting the secret “Stealth Version” drop! Consisting of just 3 pieces this time around – 2 cast in the OG “Ooze-It” green and 1 in the NYCC exclusive “Moon Dust” silver – the trio have each been treated to a series of unique camo-style sprays and meticulous hand painted detailing courtesy of Malmstedt. Touching down in the Rampage store earlier today for just $85 each, unfortunately all 3 have long since sold out, so be sure to keep your ear to the ground (and follow the Rampage IG feed here) for details of the next round of hand paints soon!
