LeeeeeeToy’s Earthly sofubi debut…

Following months of super-strange teasers and reveals, the guys behind new HK-based sofubi producer Leeeeee Toy are proud to announce that their debut figure “Earthly” will finally see its first release later this week! A surreal blend of 80’s/90’s kids classics including Cabbage Patch Dolls, Gloworm and even the eco-conscious Captain Planet, the crazy-looking Earth-headed figure stands at around 8.5″ tall with articulation in the arms and waist, coming packed with 2 alternate “masks” – a boy and a girl – plus leaf and flower accessories. Limited to an edition of 111 in this initial painted flesh colorway, each Earthly comes packed in a deluxe box for just $120 plus shipping. Look out for the figure on the Leeeeee Toy site this coming Saturday, April 30th…


Mondo’s 2016 Madballs: Series 1…

Originally unveiled in prototype form at SDCC ’15, the first round of Mondo‘s officially licensed Madball re-imaginings are now finally up for grabs! Featuring 3 of James Groman’s original characters from 1986 – Slobulus, Horn Head and Skull Face – each have been brought bang up to date by the guys at Ramirez Studios, coming in at a slightly bigger 4″ wide and produced in a super-detailed soft vinyl. Currently up for grabs via preorder through the Mondo store right here, the trio are being offered up singularly for $20 and just $55 for the set. Shipping is expected in the 3rd quarter of 2016…

With the first of our regular retro features – an in depth look into the world of GPK Cheap Toys – touching down later this month, we’ve decided to give a little heads up on it’s writer Ed Crooks‘ own personal project, the Battle Beasts Battleground! Co-created with Official Battlebeasts of Instagram to unite fans of the classic Takara mini figures, the strictly visual blog plays home to over 1000 images from BB collectors worldwide, featuring complete series collection shots, vintage shop visits, rarities, customs and more- all set against a variety of backgrounds (scrap that, battlegrounds!) from around the globe. Joining Super7 and their epic revival of Masters of the Universe – and of course, M.U.S.C.L.E too – the team over at Mondo took SDCC ’15 as the perfect chance to announce another classic 80’s brand that’ll be making a long awaited comeback this year… James Groman’s Madballs! Whilst details on the project are still scarce at present, it would appear that a total of 3 designs from the original series will be made available first – Slobulus, Horn Head and Skull Face – each coming re-designed and sculpted in the original 3″ scale by the guys at Ramirez Studios. MAN-E-NEWS// Motorbot’s “My Pet Madball” sculpt revealed…

Motorbot is the latest artist to get in on Madballs’ recent resurgence amongst the indie toy community, proudly presenting his latest creation, the the My Pet Madball! Based on an illustration the artist created a couple of years back, the cycloptic beastie has been inspired by the classic 80’s plush “My Pet Monster”, perfectly realised in 3D as an authentically scaled, 3″ wide ball. Due to be making an initial appearance in resin followed by a full run in a Madball-style foam soon, be sure to keep track of Motorbot’s Instagram feed here for release details later this week…


MAN-E-NEWS// Spinshine Wave 2 from Brown Noize Productions x Muscle Things…

It’s been a long time in coming, but Brown Noize Productions‘ custom keshi Spinshine has finally returned for a second run! Based on the “Spinning Top Sunshine” M.U.S.C.L.E (#195) figure, the digital resculpt features an awesome Ashuraman inspired 3 headed design, brandishing the Sunshine chest piece, Ashura kanji and Brown Noize logos around the outside. Originally sold with the companion Spinning Head Sunshine body (which can still be found in 3D printed form in the Shapeways store right here), the figure is available on its own this time around, coming cast by Alec over at Muscle Things in a 2-tone pink/blue black light reflective rubber. Packed in a custom clamshell, the figure can be found in the Muscle Things store alongside alongside a new wave of Brown Noize’s other figure Ashurashine for just $20.50 plus shipping…

The wait is almost over… Muscle Things’ highly anticipated Nitro Ball mini figures will finally be making their debut later this month! Featuring a slew of original designs 3D sculpted by MT’s Alec, the Madball inspired series is set to come cast in a special material almost 4 years in the making- a substance Alec has ominously dubbed “White Magic Rubber”. Featuring the same stretchy, firm-yet soft feel of the original AmToys balls, the various designs will be up for grabs in 2 different styles; the standard color Nitro, and an awesome glow-in-the-dark High Octane… Release details are still pretty thin on the ground at the moment, so we suggest keeping a close eye on the dedicated Muscle Tings thread here for more info closer to the drop…
