MAN-E-NEWS// Wizard Skull’s “Buff Slimer” figure teased…

Screen Shot 2014-02-26 at 12.53.31

Following the success of his “Sexy Ronald” collaboration with the Sucklord early last year, NYC based artist Wizard Skull has just revealed that he will be unleashing an all-new toy soon, proudly presenting Buff Slimer! Details on the release are still pretty thin on the ground at the moment, but it appears that the figure will be taking on the form of a custom bootleg M.U.S.C.L.E mini as part of a new upcoming zine/toy combo release (of which the above picture has been taken from). Interested parties can keep track of the Wizard Skull IG feed here for more details on the project soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Batmono bootleg figure from Tone Tank…

batmono_store

Tone Tank proudly presents his latest custom bootleg release, Batmono! Half man, half bat, half ape, and with a seemingly super-human power to defy mathematics (!), the figure was originally created as a one-off piece for a recent show, now seeing the light of day as a fully fledged resin figure. Inspired by a trip to Mexico, Batmono follows a similar aesthetic to Tone Tank’s original figure “Space Gorilla”, featuring intentionally crude sculpting, a simple black and white paint scheme, plus the all-important yellow vinyl cape- a common staple of all the best bootlegs from south of the border! Standing at 5.5″ tall, the figure has been limited to 50 pieces this time around, priced at $60 plus shipping. Check him out in the Scumlife store right here

MAN-E-NEWS// The ‘Sexy Ronald’ custom bootleg from Wizard Skull x The Sucklord…

The Sucklord reveals details of his latest collaborative project with Brooklyn based illustrator Wizard Skull, the ‘Sexy Ronald’ custom bootleg! Based on the legendary weirdo’s infamous lampooning of a certain fast-food chain’s mascot, the guys have gone all out with the release, mounting the as-yet-unrevealed figure on a wooden backer with ‘real’ McDonalds Cheeseburger wrappers, plus a full-color hand painted Ronald unique to each piece… This unfortunately comes at a pretty steep price though- expected to be upwards of $250, but if you’re still interested (and of course live in the New York area), be sure to head down to the SUCKSHOP in the East Broadway Mall (88 East Broadway #150, NY) at 5.30pm today to secure yours…

Sorry guys, a little late on this one but here goes… Illustrator-cum-toy designer Tone Tank is proud to present his second toy release, and first full-resin figure, the mighty Fist Hombre! Complete with “real knucklehead action”, the 5.5″ tall custom bootleg has been kit-bashed from various vintage action figures, coming re-cast and hand painted by Tone Tank himself. Limited to 100 pieces, the bagged and headed Fist Hombre can be found on the Tone Tank store right here for just $60 plus shipping…

MAN-E-NEWS// Skinner, Doktor A and Frank Kozik “The Big Suck Up!” figure reveals…

We previously posted event details and work in progress shots for the upcoming “Big Suck Up!” group show from The Sucklord and DKE Toys (find out more here), but what about some finished figures? Well today DKE Toys have revealed the works of four participating artists, including Skinner, Doktor A, Frank Kozik, and the previously featured Jason Freeny! As predicted, each artist has taken a very different approach in customising their allotted 50 Sucklord figures, ranging from the stunning Hulk inspired sprays of Skinner, Frank Kozik’s kaiju squid heads and Doktor A’s signature sculpted ‘tache and riveted chest plate… We’re guessing DKE will be revealing more designs in the lead up to the show’s November 3rd opening at DesignerCon 2012, so be sure to stay locked on the dedicated blog here for more information.

MAN-E-NEWS// The Super Suck UP! group show from DKE Toys x Suckadelic

“It’s great that I’m baller enough that all these successful artists have to make my shit for me. All I have to do is design some shitty grafix and wait for the check. I love how DKE is pimping real artists for my benefit.” -The Sucklord

We previously posted work in progress shots of Jason Freeny‘s dissected Sucklord figure a few weeks back… well today we can reveal that it will be featuring alongside a whole host of other artist contributions for the first Suckadelic group show, The Super Suck UP! Working alongside DKE Toys, The Sucklord has enlisted the talents of 16 artists; Billions McMillionsBuff MonsterDrilOneDoktor A., FergFrank KozikJason FreenyL’Amour Supreme,Luke ChuehMatt Doughty/Onell DesignOctober ToysPaulkaijuScott TollesonScott WilkowskiSkinner, and of course The Sucklord himself, to produce a series of 50 custom Sucklord figures each. We’re guessing from Freeny’s entry that these will be a mixture of re-cast pieces alongside mash-ups and straight up painted customs, but only time will tell… Due to premier at this year’s DesignerCon (Saturday, November 3, 2012), people unable to attend the event will be offered a “special” way to purchase closer to the event. Stay locked on the DKE blog for more details soon…
