MAN-E-NEWS// New “Space Convoy” sculpts from Star Case revealed…

Japanese Star Wars fan site and retailer Star Case have just revealed that their hilarious bootleg sofubi line “Space Convoy” is set to return with two all new characters soon! With just the head sculpts unveiled so far – one of which has been shamelessly based on the Tusken Raiders – we can only assume that they’ll follow previous releases and be offered up together as alternative heads for a new base figure. With no further information available at present, we suggest keeping a close eye on the Star Case Instagram feed here for more reveals from the project soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Killer Bootlegs Artist Series: “Blackbook” Edition Art-Too…

Originally released to huge fan fare last month (find out more here), the awesome Art-Too figure from Killer Bootlegs and UK graffiti artist Hoakser has returned… this time sporting it’s very own Artist Series! Created to coincide with Black Friday this week, KB’s Peter Wheatstraw Goral enlisted the talents of some of the low-brow art scene’s finest, including graffiti writers, stencil/street artists, tattoo artists, and screen printers, each creating unique one-off backing cards for the vintage R2D2/fatcap resin mash-up. Taking inspiration from graffiti, hip-hop and of course, Star Wars, the 16 different designs were sprayed, painted, sketched and stenciled using standard KB cardbacks screen printed by Pirate Ninja. Due to touch down exclusively in the Tenacious Toys store this Friday (November 23rd), each one-of-a-kind piece will set you back $75 plus shipping…

The huge artist line-up is as follows… Cash Cannon, Corey Hagburg , Dan Moorman, Eddie Fajardo, Emmanuel L White Eagle, James Ford, Jarrod Hennis, John Santagada, Joseph Goral, Laurence Barr, Manny Tang, Michael Lara, Ryan Lape, and Nasty Neil of Wasted Talent.

Original package designer Hoakser has also created an additional 2 cardback designs, but due to international shipping issues these will be available at a later date…

MAN-E-NEWS// “Mi Empire Loca” WIP from 2bitHACK…

It appears that 2012 will be the year of the Star Wars bootleg at DesignerCon this November, as alongside The Sucklord‘s Super Suck Up! show, 2bitHACK will also be debuting his latest line of mash-ups, Mi Empire Loca. We originally revealed the first figure in the series, Chewbacca Homes, a few weeks back, so it came with great pleasure this week to find the artist has already begun work on the second… a suit wearing Stormtrooper! Featuring a bootlegged action figure, vintage Stormtrooper head and some original sculpting, the piece is due for a purple silicone bath over the next couple of days- so be sure to stay tuned for a look at the first test pulls next week!

UPDATE// Since our post earlier today, 2bitHACK has kindly got back with a few more details (and a better shot!)… Due to come in a set of 3 hand cast resin figures, Chewbacca Homes will be joined by the above Vatotrooper, plus the newly revealed Prisoner # c3p0. Look out for a fully painted reveal soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// Skinner, Doktor A and Frank Kozik “The Big Suck Up!” figure reveals…

We previously posted event details and work in progress shots for the upcoming “Big Suck Up!” group show from The Sucklord and DKE Toys (find out more here), but what about some finished figures? Well today DKE Toys have revealed the works of four participating artists, including Skinner, Doktor A, Frank Kozik, and the previously featured Jason Freeny! As predicted, each artist has taken a very different approach in customising their allotted 50 Sucklord figures, ranging from the stunning Hulk inspired sprays of Skinner, Frank Kozik’s kaiju squid heads and Doktor A’s signature sculpted ‘tache and riveted chest plate… We’re guessing DKE will be revealing more designs in the lead up to the show’s November 3rd opening at DesignerCon 2012, so be sure to stay locked on the dedicated blog here for more information.

MAN-E-NEWS// The Super Suck UP! group show from DKE Toys x Suckadelic

“It’s great that I’m baller enough that all these successful artists have to make my shit for me. All I have to do is design some shitty grafix and wait for the check. I love how DKE is pimping real artists for my benefit.” -The Sucklord

We previously posted work in progress shots of Jason Freeny‘s dissected Sucklord figure a few weeks back… well today we can reveal that it will be featuring alongside a whole host of other artist contributions for the first Suckadelic group show, The Super Suck UP! We’re guessing from Freeny’s entry that these will be a mixture of re-cast pieces alongside mash-ups and straight up painted customs, but only time will tell… Due to premier at this year’s DesignerCon (Saturday, November 3, 2012), people unable to attend the event will be offered a “special” way to purchase closer to the event. Stay locked on the DKE blog for more details soon…
