MAN-E-REPORT// Toy Shack shop visit…

Rob and Luke Triclops at the Toy Shack in Walthomstowe Indoor Market 28/3/14

We’ll FINALLY be returning to our regular news posts tomorrow (thanks for your patience over the last few days guys!), but first we bring you a mini report on the hottest new toy joint in the UK… Walthamstow’s Toy Shack! Brainchild of Triclops Studio‘s Luc and Rob Clops, the incredible space recently opened it’s doors at the Wood Street Indoor Market in North London, catering to both children and adults alike with one of the most impressive collections of 80s/90s/00s classics and obscurities we’ve ever had the luck to stumble across.

Featuring the likes of iconic gross-out lines Toxic Crusaders, Food Fighters and Madballs, rare knock-offs including the Sungold Monsters and Pocket Beasts, sought after minis such as Wrestlers In My Pocket, Mini Boglins and Body Wars, plus a number of the guys’ own products from their illustrious time in the industry, the mesmerising shop offers a fascinating insight into the Triclops aesthetic, and more importantly, shows the poor, toy starved kids of today how good things used to be!

Open most weekdays from 10am right through to 5.30pm, anyone in the area with even the remotest interest in the golden age of toys is going to need to take a trip over at some point- and those that aren’t? Well you better start planning that pilgrimage now!!! Keep track of the Toy Shack Facebook page here for opening days, and be sure to stay tuned for news of a new online store soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Playlounge Exclusive “Flesh Tone” Bitsmo from Rawrs…

Following the sell-out success of the original black/grey colourway, Rawrs have once again teamed up with UK designer toy boutique Playlounge for the release of the “Flesh Tone” Bitsmos. Featuring not one, but two new designs (either brown or pink), the super-sleek resin figures come complete with corresponding purple and orange hand-tied mawashis. No news with regards to edition size or pricing, but our guess is they’ll be available in the London based store soon for around £65 each…

MAN-E-NEWS// The DIY Fonzo from Freak Store…

Venezuelan designer toy outlet Freak Store are proud to reveal that their very first vinyl release, the adorable Fonzo, is set to land his very own DIY edition soon! Based on the store’s owners French bulldog, the Gary Ham designed figure stands at 6″ tall, and with a nicely balanced (and relatively neutral) shaped body to get to work on, the DIY Fonzo should be able to find some healthy interest from the custom community… Freak Store have announced that they will also be hosting several Custom Fonzo shows soon, so to find out more, along with pricing and release dates on the figure, be sure to stay locked on the Freak Store twitter feed here
