Doktor A x Toy Art Gallery’s “Orange” Mandrake Root…

Originally debuting in limited quantities at DCon ’15 back in November, Doktor A‘s debut sofubi with Toy Art Gallery – Mandrake Root – will finally see it’s first official online release this weekend! Designed by Dok A and sculpted by Turtle Milk Studios’ David Arshawsky (he of ’89 TMNT fame), the 8″ tall tuberous kaiju features a total of 7 points of articulation, coming complete with a 3″, 2-part mini sidekick to boot. Produced in a gorgeous unpainted orange soft vinyl this time around, Mandrake will be up for grabs via e-mail lottery starting today (2/19) from 12pm Pacific, coming in at a very reasonable $65 plus shipping. All you have to do to be in with a chance of bagging the figure is fire over a mail to sales@toyartgallery.com with “Mandrake Root Lottery” in the subject header, being sure to include your PayPal and shipping addresses. Open until 12pm Pacific on Monday, February 22nd, winners of the lottery will be notified 24 hours after close…

MAN-E-NEWS// Skinner, Doktor A and Frank Kozik “The Big Suck Up!” figure reveals…

We previously posted event details and work in progress shots for the upcoming “Big Suck Up!” group show from The Sucklord and DKE Toys (find out more here), but what about some finished figures? Well today DKE Toys have revealed the works of four participating artists, including Skinner, Doktor A, Frank Kozik, and the previously featured Jason Freeny! As predicted, each artist has taken a very different approach in customising their allotted 50 Sucklord figures, ranging from the stunning Hulk inspired sprays of Skinner, Frank Kozik’s kaiju squid heads and Doktor A’s signature sculpted ‘tache and riveted chest plate… We’re guessing DKE will be revealing more designs in the lead up to the show’s November 3rd opening at DesignerCon 2012, so be sure to stay locked on the dedicated blog here for more information.

Following a successful debut at SDCC earlier this month, Squid Kids Ink are proud to reveal that the long awaited Min 10-Doh’s are finally ready for general release! Paying tribute to 80’s console, the Nintendo Entertainment System, the cartridge inspired figure is available in 16 different designs from 12 of the art toy scene’s elite, including 4 super rare gold chases! Priced at just $10 each, the blind-boxed minis are available in a case of 20 through the Squid Kids Ink store, with singles due to hit your nearest art toy emporium some time soon. MAN-E-NEWS// The Super Suck UP! group show from DKE Toys x Suckadelic

We previously posted work in progress shots of Jason Freeny‘s dissected Sucklord figure a few weeks back… well today we can reveal that it will be featuring alongside a whole host of other artist contributions for the first Suckadelic group show, The Super Suck UP! Working alongside DKE Toys, The Sucklord has enlisted the talents of 16 artists; Billions McMillionsBuff MonsterDrilOneDoktor A., FergFrank KozikJason FreenyL’Amour Supreme,Luke ChuehMatt Doughty/Onell DesignOctober ToysPaulkaijuScott TollesonScott WilkowskiSkinner, and of course The Sucklord himself, to produce a series of 50 custom Sucklord figures each. We’re guessing from Freeny’s entry that these will be a mixture of re-cast pieces alongside mash-ups and straight up painted customs, but only time will tell… Due to premier at this year’s DesignerCon (Saturday, November 3, 2012), people unable to attend the event will be offered a “special” way to purchase closer to the event. Originally previewed back at last month’s Wondercon, Squid Kids Ink are proud to officially announce their first blind-boxed series, Mini 10-Doh! Scaling the much loved 10-Doh! NES styled cartridge down to a dinky 3.5″, the first series is set to feature designs by Andrew Wilson, Doktor A, Jerome Lu, Jesse Hernandez, Kozik, Kwestone, Luke Chueh, Matt Jones, Nakanari, Nate Mitchell, Scott Tolleson and Tracey Tubera. Dropping with 12 grey designs plus an extra 4 gold chases, expect to see these awesome figures debut at SDCC 2012. Stay tuned for design reveals over the coming weeks…


MAN-E-NEWS// ToyCon UK 2013 confirmed…

Designer toy collectors Jonjo Glynn, Ben Hart and Barry Darnell have finally answered the prayers of thousands here in the UK, with the official reveal of the country’s very first art toy convention! Dubbed ToyCon UK, the event is set to take place on Saturday, April 6th 2012 (364 days and counting!) at the Baden Powell House in Kensington, London. With most of the UK’s premier talent already confirmed including A Little Stranger, Cris Rose, Doktor A, Fugi.me, Hang Gang, Lunabee , Jon-Paul Kaiser, Matt “Lunartik” Jones, Mintyfresh, TADO, Triclops, The Tarantulas, Squink, Ume Toys, and Unbox Industries, ToyCon UK is already looking to compete with it’s bigger US counterparts, offering the best in vinyl, resin, and plush that our little island has to offer. MAN-E-NEWS// The Year of the Dragon Synbora from Chris Ryniak x Squibbles Ink x Rotofugi…

Chris Ryniak‘s Synbora is making a return in the new ‘Year of the Dragon’ edition, which is set to drop exclusively through Rotofugi tomorrow (March 2nd) at 11am Central time. Cast in black vinyl, with hand sprays of red, gold and matte black from Joe Sommers (Squibbles Ink) and Kirby Kerr (Rotofugi), the 5″ figures will retail at $35 plus shipping.

Ryniak has also posted a few wip images of his forthcoming entries for April’s Monsters and Misfits 2 show. Featuring his trademark blend of the cute and grotesque, Ryniak’s amazing sculptures will be sitting alongside custom works and original pieces from Brandt Peters, Doktor A, Kathie Olivias and Amanda Louise Spade.
