Originally teased in vinyl test-shot form back in September, the latest Fake Spectreman figure (#6) from Awesome Toy will finally be touching down later this month! With the ongoing series based on pachi (bootleg) renditions of P Productions’ classic tokusatsu character “Spectreman”, this new version have been inspired by a little known Brazilian comic, featuring an altogether more angular and stylised look than previous renditions of the super-cyborg. Making it’s way into the Medicom Toy store via open preorder starting December 24th, the 9.5″ tall soft vinyl figure will set you back just 9,720yen ($80) plus shipping…

Note// Due to licensing agreements, we still cannot confirm whether the figure will be available for overseas sales.

Originally teased right here at the beginning of July, the second round of Fake Spectreman figures from Awesome Toy have just been revealed in final test-pull form! With the ongoing series based on pachi (bootleg) renditions of P Productions’ classic tokusatsu character Spectreman, these 2 new versions have been inspired by a little known Brazilian comic, featuring altogether more angular and stylised looks than previous renditions of the super-cyborg. Currently at the paint sampling stage ahead of release through Medicom Toy soon, be sure to stay tuned for the full lowdown vet the next few weeks…

But that’s not all… On top of the new Spectreman release, Awesome Toy have also begun teasing their latest original toy too! Whilst we’re remains tight lipped at present, we can let you know that the project has more than a little to do with infamous Japanese urban legend, Jinmenken (the human face dog)… More news on that soon!

Having had success with the first 2 waves of Fake Spectreman releases mid-last year, Awesome Toy are proud to announce that a fifth variant will be heading into production next week! With the series based on pachi (bootleg) renditions of P Productions’ classic tokusatsu character Spectreman, this new version has been inspired by a little known Brazilian comic, featuring an altogether more angular take on the well known super-cyborg. Presumably set to feature one of the two bodies that made up the first batch of releases, expect confirmation once a full reveal has been posted over the coming weeks…


MAN-E-NEWS// Kaijumonster’s Toycon UK exclusive Diatryma “Kyorochan” and “Spectreman” prototypes from Awesome Toy…

Following the success of their DCC exclusive “Vamp Baron” micro-run (check it here), the guys behind Awesome Toy have once again teamed up with Kaijumonster for another round of EU con exclusives, this time taking on the UK’s ToyCon! First up, we have a one-off Hukkokudo x Grumble Toy “Kyorochan” Diatryma custom. Produced in a bright yellow soft vinyl, the flightless pre-historic bird has been treated to a vintage-style brown and red paint app that resembles Kyorochan, a Japanese cartoon bird that serves as a mascot for a brand of morinaga chocolate known as “Chocoball”… Joining the Diatryma, Awesome Toy will also be unleashing a limited batch of 4 Spectreman prototypes. Produced in a selection of yellow, orange and red sofubi, these ultra-rare protos each come packed in retro printed PVC bags with authentic header cards. Due to touch down at the Kaijumonster booth (#29) this Saturday, April 25th, pricing for all 5 figures is still to be confirmed…

Hot off the heels of their first wave of Fake Spectreman sofubi back in May (here), the guys over at AWESOME TOY are proud to announce that another 2 pachi renditions of the super-cyborg are now up for grabs courtesy of Medicom Toy! Officially licensed by P-Productions, the 9.5″ tall soft vinyl figures feature the same body variants as the first release, albeit with new head sculpts and paint apps closely based on 2 of Spectreman’s many bootleg guises. Currently up for grabs in Japan through the Medicom Toy store priced at 9,000yen ($89) each, overseas customers are going to need to hit up Rakuten here to bag theirs…

spctruman_bagura_1_h Wasting no time since the launch of their debut sofubi Fake Baron in March, the guys over at Awesome Toy have once again teamed up with Medicom Toy for another pachi-style release… Fake Spectreman! Offering up 2 different bootleg takes on the classic tokusatu character; a traditional version in red/yellow, complete with blood sucking monster companion-omake Bakura, and a standalone version in blue/gold, the pair come in at around 9.5″ of Japanese produced soft vinyl. Up for grabs in Japan through the Medicom Toy store, priced at 11,500yen ($113) and 9,000yen ($88) respectively, overseas customers are going to need to hit up Rakuten here to bag theirs…
