MAN-E-NEWS// The Frenzy customs from Rampage Toys…

Revealed in our Rampage Toys round-up last week, Jon Malmstedt has posted yet another tantalising image from his forthcoming Frenzy custom release. Due to drop on Friday, July 6th, Jon will be painting up 5 of the sofubi house’s wrestler figure in his signature palette of neon hued sprays, including one very special green-headed “chase” variant. Unfortunately, further details on the release are still forthcoming, so your best bet is to stay locked on the Rampage Toys twitter feed for the latest updates… Competition is going to be fierce for these guys, so be sure nott sleep on them!

Come back tomorrow for a full reveal of the second Rampage Toys x Uamou collab that will be touching down in the store this Friday (June 15th)…

MAN-E-NEWS// RAMPAGE x UAMOU Part 2 and more from Rampage Toys…

In an effort to make up for the fact that Rampage Toy‘s March exhibition at Studio Uamou ended up being mostly unavailable to those not able to attend, Jon Malmstedt has been hard at work on a new batch of pieces for the aptly titled “RAMPAGE x UAMOU Part 2” sale! Consisting of a few small runs of Uamous, a couple paintings (including one collaborative painting with UAMOU herself), and a batch of custom Ugly Unicorns from Uamou in her signature style (black line-work on white sofubi). Everything will go live in in the Rampage Toys shop next Friday (June 15th) at 11am Japan time (Thursday at 10 PM in American Eastern Standard Time). Head over to Jon’s Flickr for more pics over the next couple of weeks…

Cyclops Dinosaur Sofubi wax prototypes revealed…

Jon is pleased to announce that the wax prototypes for his upcoming Cyclops Dinosaur Sofubi release have been finalised… leaving just the jointing and master moulds to be made before we see these little guys in soft vinyl! Jon still plans for a debut release at SDCC this year, we’re keeping our fingers and toes crossed! More news, plus vinyl test pulls to follow shortly…

Rampage x Frenzy work-in-progress…

Whilst very little is known about Rampage Toys’ upcoming collaboration/custom series with Frenzy, we’ve decided to post the below pic as these guys were way too awesome not to share! By the looks of the Rampage Instagram feed, Jon has a lot of these customs planned in the near future… we personally can’t wait, the neon pink/purple figure is quite simply stunning! Expect to see these make an appearance sometime in July, more news soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// New Captain Maxx and Mecha Nekoron protos from Max Toy Company…

It’s been a busy week already for Max Toy collectors with the re-opening of the exclusive membership club on Monday, so it came with great surprise today to find that Mark Nagata has revealed not one but two new protos that should be heading to the Max Toy shop soon!

First up comes the much anticipated collaboration with Japanese toy company, Frenzy, the re-imaging of Max Toy‘s signature spaceman, Captain Maxx. Sculpted in a new standard size, the figure is set to come with 2 different helmet variations (Version A and Version C, a nod to Nagata’s favourite hero!), a newer, sleeker version (right), and one more faithful to the original (left). Nagata has stated that a test shot of the newly revived character should be available at Design Fiesta in May, so be sure to stay tuned in the coming weeks for more details…

Next up we have Mecha Nekoron, the would-be robot companion to Negora! Designed and sculpted by Makino-san of TTToys, the micro sized mecha cat stands at just 2.5″ tall. Coming with his own Mewship, the tops and bottoms of both figures can be removed and interchanged to create a number of different variations! With iron molds in the process of being made, expect to see this little guy debut at Design Fiesta (with a healthy surplus promised for us collectors in the West!). Stay tuned for test shots soon…
