sb_0223_bbb

Cure Toys have just revealed the latest figure to get the FLV. treatment, James Groman’s Brain Bug Boogie-Man! Cast up in an unpainted neon green soft vinyl with neon pink “brain bug” and pincer, the 8″ tall figure will be dropping exclusively in the Secret Base store this Sunday, February 23rd for just 10,000yen ($98). Unfortunately the piece has been limited to just over-the-counter sales for now, although we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that any leftovers will make their way to the online store in the near future!

UPDATE// On top of the Secret Base store release on Sunday, Lulubell Toys have just revealed that they will also have a number of both blank and painted versions of the figure up for preorder today (2/22) at 7pm PST! Priced at $110 plus shipping, expect orders to ship sometime in April.

MAN-E-NEWS// James Groman’s “Triceratops” Rotten Rexx WIP head sculpt revealed…

Screen Shot 2014-01-09 at 14.20.44

Whilst the dust has barely settled since the debut of Rotten Rexx at NYCC last year, creator James Groman has already set about working on an all-new head sculpt! Taking on the form of a triceratops this time around, the unnamed sculpt features the same jaw-dropping scale and detail of the original, coming with wonderfully realised scales, rotting flesh and a menacing expression that’s sure to give old Rexx a run for his money. Still a long way off from production (we’ve got the first painted run of Rexx to come first!), we’ll be keeping a close eye on any further developments over the coming months…

MAN-E-NEWS// James Groman’s Rotten Rexx at Designer Con…

Screen Shot 2013-11-08 at 13.18.25

We’ve already featured one amazing Rotten Rexx custom that creator James Groman will be bringing along to Designer Con this weekend, so it came with great pleasure today to find that he’s teamed up with Lulubell Toys to bring that total up to four! Aptly named “Radiated”, “Rawmeat”, “Red Dead” and “Ultimate” Rexx, the hand painted quartet will be up for grabs via lottery at the Lulubell booth (#120) for $800 each, with drawings at 5.15pm local time on Saturday and 12.15am on Sunday. Joining the customs, Lulubell will also have several more marbled Rexx blanks at $250 each, as well as a healthy stock of Groman’s Rotten Rex comic book up for grabs… Unable to make the con, but still want to grab a Rexx? Then you’ll be glad to know that Lulubell are still offering up blank flesh and grey colourways right here!

MAN-E-NEWS// James Groman’s DCon exclusive Rotten Rex custom…

Screen Shot 2013-10-31 at 14.02.34

Creator of arguably one of the best toys we’ve seen all year, James Groman has finally been given the chance to customise a Rotten Rex for himself… and boy is it EPIC! Cast by Grody Shogun in a grey soft vinyl, Groman opted to take the 12″ tall beast down a more realistic route than the kaiju inspired custom heads we’ve seen so far, mixing flat, earthy tones with detail hugging black washes to create the stunning graphic novel-esque aesthetic that prevails throughout Groman’s own Rotten Rex comic book. Due to be going on sale at Designer Con next week, we suggest keeping an eye on the artist’s Instagram feed here for full release details soon…
