Celebrating the launch of the 4th Annual Designer Toy Awards, Jason Freeny has teamed up with organisers Clutter Magazine for the debut of the Dissected Toy Prince resin figure in a gorgeous “Ruby Dust” colourway! MAN-E-NEWS// Skinner, Doktor A and Frank Kozik “The Big Suck Up!” figure reveals…

We previously posted event details and work in progress shots for the upcoming “Big Suck Up!” group show from The Sucklord and DKE Toys (find out more here), but what about some finished figures? Well today DKE Toys have revealed the works of four participating artists, including Skinner, Doktor A, Frank Kozik, and the previously featured Jason Freeny! As predicted, each artist has taken a very different approach in customising their allotted 50 Sucklord figures, ranging from the stunning Hulk inspired sprays of Skinner, Frank Kozik’s kaiju squid heads and Doktor A’s signature sculpted ‘tache and riveted chest plate… We’re guessing DKE will be revealing more designs in the lead up to the show’s November 3rd opening at DesignerCon 2012, so be sure to stay locked on the dedicated blog here for more information.

MAN-E-NEWS// The Super Suck UP! group show from DKE Toys x Suckadelic

“It’s great that I’m baller enough that all these successful artists have to make my shit for me. All I have to do is design some shitty grafix and wait for the check. I love how DKE is pimping real artists for my benefit.” -The Sucklord

We previously posted work in progress shots of Jason Freeny‘s dissected Sucklord figure a few weeks back… well today we can reveal that it will be featuring alongside a whole host of other artist contributions for the first Suckadelic group show, The Super Suck UP! MAN-E-NEWS// The CAPSL designer pill fob from Jason Freeny…

“For my first line of designer toys, I wanted to add function… Everything else out there is all about form, but CAPSLs are actually useful too. And I wanted to add a 4th dimension, since so much of what I do focuses on what’s inside; CAPSLs let you go inside and actually use that space to store things.” -Jason Freeny

As if the recently announced X-Ray Gummis weren’t enough (find out more here), “dissection master” Jason Freeny is proud to reveal yet another long awaited project now coming to fruition, the CAPSL designer “pill” fob keychains! Working alongside Jailbreak Collective’s FCTRY division, Freeny has produced a series of 12 original designs plus chases ranging from sweet (Flower Bomb) to zany (Frog Squid), that can be taken apart to either store small objects, or interchanged with other designs (FCTRY has stated there are well over 100 combinations!). Available from the official CAPSLs site now, the full series can be purchased for just $99 plus shipping (including a free limited edition Medicine Man figure), or individually for $7.99. FCTRY have promised several other new designs over the next few weeks, so be sure to stay tuned for more news as soon as it hits…

MAN-E-NEWS// Bridget Rhee’s “Buddy’s Den” at TT Underground…

“Buddy is a hunter. A cute adorable one. But Buddy doesn’t prize the ordinary wild animal, he seeks to collect the eccentric– fantastic, strange, and unique creatures and odds and ends from the likes no one has ever seen before.”

Peter Kato kindly shares with us the first group art show from friend, artist and former Toy Tokyo employee, Bridget Rhee. Entitled “Buddy’s Den”, Bridget’s vision was to create the feel of a hunter’s trophy den in a gallery, replacing the usual array of taxidermy with a slew of fantastical creatures! Enlisting the talents of some of New York’s most respected artists including Healeymade, Mariangela Tan(Plushplay) & Justin Alan Volpe(Popprolific), Bridget’s amazing idea has finally come to fruition, with “Buddy’s Den” opening its doors at the mighty TT Underground Gallery this Friday! We suggest to anyone in the NY area to pop down… this is set to be one of the most imaginative shows this year. Head over to the TT Underground site for more details…
