MAN-E-NEWS// Ben Spencer’s Sharkastator for the Blue Colar Toy Show…

9084563665_d5293ec6ec_o

Ben Spencer of Galaxxor/Nerd City fame comes with the first of 2 pieces he’s created for Madknits‘ upcoming Blue Colar Toy Show, the incredible Sharkastator Galaxxor mash-up! Loosely inspired by the ‘Killer Carp’ Battle Beast both in design and colour, the stunning piece features an amalgamation of Spencer’s signature Galaxxor and Lucha Shark figures to blinding effect. Cast in resin by the legendary Marty ‘Godbeast’ Hansen, the one-off 5.5″ toy has been hand painted in the carp’s familiar red and white, complete with yellow chest embellishment. Priced at just $90, Sharkastator will be up for grabs alongside another still-to-be-revealed piece at the show’s opening on July 13th at the Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket, RI. Head over to the Madnits site here for more details…

MAN-E-NEWS// ‘CMYK’ Lucha Shark WIP from Ben Spencer…

lucha

Joining the recently posted Hippo Titan Soldier and Treegar exclusive, Galaxxor‘s Ben Spencer has been hard at work on the third Lucha Shark colourway, the provisionally titled ‘CMYK’ edition. Hand painted in a striking mix of primary blue, red, yellow and black, the part kit-bashed, part originally sculpted figure should hopefully be making an appearance in resin courtesy of Marty “Godbeast” Hansen at some point in the near future. No news on pricing or edition size, but if the previously released El Tiburon is anything to go by, expect CMYK to be limited to just 10 pieces with a price of around $75…

MAN-E-NEWS// The “Quick and Dirty” Lucha Shark mock-up…

Whilst on the look out for more info on Ben Spencer‘s highly anticipated Lucha Shark figures, we stumbled upon the above image on the Nerd City Flickr… the very first painted mockup! Provisionally titled “El Tiburon”, the absolutely stunning figure has been given a “quick and dirty” fluorescent green, blue and white paint job that perfectly offsets the bold chalky grey of the shark’s skin… No news as of yet with regards to a firm release date or pricing (or whether the above colourway has even been confirmed), but we’re guessing it won’t be long until full details are revealed… Stay locked on the dedicated Lucha Sharks blog here for any further developments.

MAN-E-NEWS// “Fröstkron” Cyborg Space Barbarian from Ben Spencer…

“The champion of General Gorgax’s elite cadre of Cyborg Space Barbarians is Fröstkron, Scourge of the Frozen Xanthic Wastes!”

Hot off the heals of our recent Lucha Sharks update (find out more here), Ben Spencer is proud to present yet another new Galaxxor creation in the form of Cyborg Space Barbarian “Fröstkron”. Coming with a head sculpted by Spencer and cast by Marty “Godbeast” Hansen, the figure features the body of a disused vintage MOTU figure, finished in a stunning black glitter paint job, furry colar and bejeweled chest (the fur pelt of Fenros the slain Ice Gnoll Warlord and the enchanted jewel of Ragnor!). Limited to an edition of just 5, Fröstkron will be available from the Galaxxor store this Friday (July 30th) at Noon CDT for $55 plus shipping…

MAN-E-NEWS// Lucha Sharks sculpt update from Ben Spencer…

Originally revealed here a couple of months back, Ben Spencer (of Galaxxor fame) has recently posted updated images of the highly anticipated Lucha Shark sculpt. Inspired by the anthropomorhic themed properties of the 80’s and 90’s, plus the recent Inaction Figures of friends Steve Seeley and Giant Japanese Monster, Bad!, the latest addition to the Galaxxor universe is a combination of kitbashed parts, original sculpting and A LOT of sanding! Due to be produced by Marty “Godbeast” Hansen, Ben is currently in the process of refining the figure with resin casting in mind (he’s also hinted at the addition of a full Luchador mask for the final design too!). Stay tuned for more information as soon as it hits…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Lucha Sharks: Finned Fighters of HIVE WORLD x-544 from Ben Spencer…

With all of the excitement surrounding the recent release of General Gorgax (find out more here), Ben Spencer‘s latest project, the awesome Lucha Sharks, unfortunately went under our radar… until now! Revealed a couple of weeks back, these otherworldly wrestlers follow the same MOTU inspired aesthetic as Ben’s Galaxxor line, and with the strap-line “Finned Fighters of HIVE WORLD x-544”, it appears these guys will be part of the same universe! Little information has been revealed so far, just the extremely promising work-in-progress shot above, so be sure to stay locked on the newly created Lucha Sharks blog for more details in the coming weeks…
