MAN-E-NEWS// The “Cannibal Fuckface” custom 5.5″ action figure from Kalaka Toys…

Screen Shot 2014-09-04 at 12.23.35

With Johnny Ryan’s Prison Pit finally getting its own official Instagram account (here) earlier this week, mad bootleg scientist Matias over at Kalaka Toys has decided to honour the occasion with a custom of the graphic novel-turned-cartoon’s lead protagonist, Cannibal Fuckface! Utilising a classic 5.5″ MOTU-style action figure as a base, the artist has painted the buck in an authentic mix of flesh, black, blue and blood-splattered crimson acrylics. Finished off with detachable metal wrist chains and fist-blade accessory, the post-apocalyptic man eater has been safely housed on a vintage MOTU blister pack, featuring additional hand painted modifications from Matias himself. Unfortunately we can’t confirm whether the figure will ever see a proper release at present, but you can be sure that as soon as we find out, you guys will be the first to know…

MAN-E-NEWS// The “Grizzle” Evil Head resin figure from Joe Whiteford…

004_original

Originally revealed back in April, Joe Whiteford is proud to reveal that the first figure in his ongoing “Evil Head” series, the abominable Grizzle, is now up for grabs! A crazy infusion of all things 80’s (and gross!), including Weird Balls, He-Man and cult horror, the gruesome 5.5″ tall beast has been originally sculpted by the artist (save for the Grizzlor parts), coming cast in resin and finished in the artist’s unmistakeable mix of earthy colours, layered washes and a ton of fake fur. Whilst the first round of one-offs and limited runs have already sold out since their release just yesterday, Joe has just loaded the “Original Variant” edition for all those that missed out. Limited to a run of 16 (of which only 12 will be made available), this version has been painted in a Greyskull/Mumm Ra inspired greyish-green, coming packed with 2 custom collector cards playing homage to both Weird Balls and MOTU. Priced at $69 each plus shipping, the OG Grizzle’s can be found in the artist’s store right here… The first in a series of 4-5 figures planned, stay tuned for news on the next addition soon!

MAN-E-NEWS// The Batmono bootleg figure from Tone Tank…

batmono_store

Tone Tank proudly presents his latest custom bootleg release, Batmono! Half man, half bat, half ape, and with a seemingly super-human power to defy mathematics (!), the figure was originally created as a one-off piece for a recent show, now seeing the light of day as a fully fledged resin figure. Inspired by a trip to Mexico, Batmono follows a similar aesthetic to Tone Tank’s original figure “Space Gorilla”, featuring intentionally crude sculpting, a simple black and white paint scheme, plus the all-important yellow vinyl cape- a common staple of all the best bootlegs from south of the border! Standing at 5.5″ tall, the figure has been limited to 50 pieces this time around, priced at $60 plus shipping. Check him out in the Scumlife store right here

MAN-E-NEWS// Custom 5.5″ Barbarianaut from Monsterforge…

barbarianaut-e1365072583416

A figure we’ve been meaning to post since first laying eyes upon it a couple of weeks back over at Nerd City, Barbarianaut is the latest (and quite possibly greatest!) custom action figure from Monsterforge… Based on his recent OMFG Series 3 entry, the incredible piece has been kit-bashed from various vintage MOTU figures, with additional sculpting and meticulous painting faithfully recreating the mini figure in the standard 5.5″ scale. Sadly created as just a one-off piece at the moment, we’ll be keeping both our fingers and toes crossed for a resin multiple in the near future! In the meantime, if you’re interested in bagging a copy of the original 2″ version we suggest heading over to the OMFG Series 3 Kickstarter page here and make a pledge ASAP- the campaign closes in just 20 hours at the time of writing, and the guys at October Toys still need another $120 of pledges to reach their goal!
