MAN-E-NEWS// WIP custom Munny and Ammonaito from Adam Pratt…

Adam Pratt kindly shares details of his latest two work-in-progress projects, the Mechavirus x Halfbad Ammonaitos and the HateMale custom Munny… One of our favourite resin pieces to emerge from the past year, we were delighted to hear that Adam had finally settled down to work on Todd Robertson’s Ammonaitos, and as you can see from the early shots, he’s doing them every bit of justice they deserve! Initially working on a series of four, two will be customised in the funghi ridden style seen above, whilst the last pair will be grafted together to form the ram-shaped objet d’art piece seen bottom left. These are due to be landing in the Mechavirus store soon, so be sure to stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks…

Any followers of Adam on Instagram would have noticed this guy pop up a few times over the past couple of months… well the stomach churning “Chowderhead” custom Munny is finally nearing completion! Originally created by giving the poor Munny a resin bath and building up various layers of plumber’s spackle to create the monstrosity you see before you. Paint application is due to begin today, so along with the addition of a slime encrusted spoon, plus REAL dried meal worms, this is shaping up to be Adam’s grossest piece yet… Created for the New England clothing label called HateMale, the custom will be released alongside their latest Chowderhead tee… expect both to touch down at some point in October…

MAN-E-NEWS// “The Host” custom Munny from Adam Pratt…

Adam Pratt kindly shares with us his latest project, “The Host” custom 4″ Munny! Whilst an unusual choice of platform for the prolific mini figure customiser, Adam has taken it in his stride, creating a beautifully over the top piece that has the Halfbad stamp all over it… Featuring a poor green fellow being consumed from within by an ugly tentacled beast, the custom’s level of detail is truly astounding; from the various tentacles and individual suckers jutting out from the host’s body (part kit-bashed from a Fisher Price toy!), through to the huge bug-eyes and purple warts, Adam has managed to achieve the same fine finish that has made his mini figure work so popular… No news on pricing at the moment, so your best bet is to hit Adam up directly at halfbadtoyz@gmail.com with any enquiries…

MAN-E-NEWS// JC Rivera’s custom Munny for the Custom Custom Show…

Widely known as one of the hottest sculptors in the custom toy scene right now, it’s been great to see JC Rivera get back to his painterly roots for some of his latest work, with his entry for Dream in Plastic‘s upcoming Custom Custom show no exception. Focusing on the store/gallery’s name, Rivera has used the 7″ Munny platform to create a dreamworld for his enchanting characters to inhabit. Featuring a beautiful landscape filled with hills, clouds and Rivera’s worm-esque creatures, the piece is rounded off (quite literally!), with a growling Bearlee on the back side…

The third show to be held at Dreams in Plastic, the Custom Custom Show will be opening it’s doors on Saturday, June 9 from 6-10pm. This is an open entry event, so if you still want to participate you better be quick… submission deadline is this Thursday! Expect a full reveal of the show next week…

Using a 4″ Munny and 3″ Dunny, along with Super Sculpey, artist canvas and acrylic paint, the enchanting sculpt style and clean paint work bear all the hallmarks of a great DK piece. Created for the upcoming Custom Toy Union Trade (find out more here), the Magician and White Rabbit unfortunately wont be available to purchase. MAN-E-NEWS// The “JINX” custom Munny from David Kraig…

Designer and customiser David Kraig kindly shares with us his entry for the Kidrobot NY store contest, “JINX” the custom 7″ Munny. With a face inspired by the Hannya mask, this devilish character has been beautifully sculpt with polymer clay and painted using a mixture of washes and acrylics. We absolutely love the creepy vibe going on here, and with the addition of an internal LED unit (that makes his eyes glow a satanic red!), we’re sure JINX could be a serious contender for the prize. Interested in seeing more? Then head over to DK’s site here to check out his amazing custom portfolio…
