MAN-E-NEWS// UME Toys’ Millard Buckston figure revealed…

MIll_2

Artist Rich Page has been hard at work on the latest addition to the ever growing UME Toys family, introducing the creepy-yet-cute Millard Buckston! Standing at a lofty 7″ tall, the figure has been hand sculpted by Rich using Super Sculpey, coming painted in a monotone palette of block acrylics and washes. Unfortunately just a one-off at present, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a limited resin run at some point in the near future…

MAN-E-NEWS// UME Toys’ ScamWave test pull revealed…

9442253213_775cc5f1ae_o

Originally teased here last week, Richard Page over at UME Toys has just revealed the first test-pull of ScamWave… and it’s EPIC! A re-make of Rich’s incredible one-off Soundwave sculpt created last year (check him out here), the new version features a tighter, chunkier design than it’s predecessor, standing at around 7.5″ tall and now coming with a whopping 9 points of articulation. To be painted up in the familiar weathered navy blue and silver of the original, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a full reveal plus those all important release details later in the week… Keep track of the UME Instagram feed here for further developments as they happen!

MAN-E-NEWS// The Masked Man one-off custom sculpt from Hoakser…

maskedsculpt1

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from our buddy Hoakser, so it came with great pleasure today to find his latest toy project nestled in our inbox… the rather sweet looking Masked-Man one-off sculpt! Based on the graffiti cum toy artist’s signature character of the same name, the impressive piece has slowly taken form over the past few months, resulting in the fully standing, 22cm tall behemoth you see above. Sculpted on top of an un-named DIY art toy using air dry clay, the Masked Man has been given Hoakser’s familiar mix of dark acrylic washes and gruesome crimson splatters. Already making it’s way to a very lucky collector over in Canada, we suggest heading over to the Hoakser site here if you’re interested in commissioning a similar piece… Interested in checking out how the figure was put together? Then you’ll be glad to know that Hoakser has just posted the progress shots via his YouTube channel right here.

MAN-E-NEWS// The ‘Eye of Death’ one-off Madball sculpt from Zectron…

Vintage-Design-Of-The-Week-Madballsfront copy

Whilst we wrap up the last of our ToyConUK prep for a full reveal tomorrow, we hand over to our first ever guest writer and fellow Disarticulator, The Amazing Zectron, for the full lowdown on his latest one-off project, ‘The Eye of Death’…

madball1

There was a project put together by an artist a couple months ago where people sign up and create a one of a kind monster. Then everyone involved gets assigned randomly to another artist and they send off their creations. Really neat concept. I don’t have time for stuff like this normally but the fact the project was opened to everyone regardless of their level of experience made me want to get involved. The fact some truly great artists signed up and encouraged people who have never made any kind of toy or monster before to join in was pretty inspiring. All in the name of fun and sharing is a rare thing these days. To take a one of a kind piece of art that could be rather marketable and trade it away for another piece is in my opinion awesome.

So here’s my contribution…

Inspired by the MadBalls many of us loved as kids. A one-off evil cracked skull with a bloodshot eye soon to be sent off to another random person who liked the idea of making a piece of art to give away as much as i did.

Oh and a special thanks to my toy partner in crime Tru:Tek for helping me put the header card together so it looks like a real toy…

Expect full service to resume at Man-E-Toys tomorrow, where we’ll be taking a look at the last batch of ToyConUK reveals, the Disarticulator line-up in full, and more importantly, when, where and how you can grab it all for yourself!

MAN-E-NEWS// The UME Toys x Tenacious Toys NYCC charity raffle…

Joining a whole host of exclusives and future project reveals (including one or two in conjunction with us!), Rich over at UME Toys has announced that he will also be organising a very special raffle… the prize? The amazing Basset DKay one-off sculpt (originally posted here), PLUS a signed piece of original artwork! To be in with a chance of bagging the awesome figure, be sure to head down to the Tenacious Toys booth (#3121) and bag your ticket. Rich has stated that  all the proceeds raised will be going to the Susan G Komen cancer research charity… Fancy getting the man in questions autograph, or even a quick scribble? Then you’ll be glad to know that Rich will be on hand at the Tenacious Toys booth from  3pm Saturday 13th, and at the BIG KEV’S GEEK STUFF booth (#3261) along with the talented Argonauts Resins and Jelly Empire all Sunday. Stay tuned for more EXCLUSIVE reveals very soon!

MAN-E-NEWS// The Venom one-off sculpt from UME Toys…

Wasting no time since our work-in-progress reveal over the weekend, Richard Page of UME Toys proudly presents his take on Venom in all its fully painted, web-slinging glory! In keeping with the minimalist sculpt, Rich has chosen a wonderfully  simple black, white and pink colour scheme, working his “distressed” magic into the meticulously restyled logo and eye holes. Coming complete with a previously unrevealed “bolt” of webbing, the new addition really sets the piece off, offering a great contrast in detail to the figure’s smooth, curved lines… Due to be making an appearance at NYCC next month, the 7″+ tall one-off piece is likely to be priced upwards of £200. Stay tuned for a full-painted reveal of Rich’s next resin figure, the adorable Fletcher the Cat, tomorrow.

MAN-E-NEWS// The WIP Venom sculpt from UME Toys…

Following the breathtaking custom Soundwave from last month, Rich over at UME Toys has resurrected another childhood favourite in his unmistakable “spindly” style… Spiderman’s arch nemesis, Venom! Based on a highly popular illustration Rich did of the alien symbiote a few years back (of which a copy hangs proudly on our studio wall!), the sculpt is very much staying true to the original design, keeping the same simple shapes and distorted scale that made the original drawing so perfect… Stay tuned for a full reveal soon, and as for availability? We’re guessing this guy will be rightfully heading to NYCC next month, so if you’re interested, you better seek Rich out!
