The Rampage Studios Finale in pictures…

img_9847

After 4 years of some of the most talked about shows in the indie sofubi scene, Rampage Studios opened it’s doors to the public one last time for its Finale show last Friday. A rather fitting final bow from owner Jon Malmsedt of Rampage Toys, the compact exhibition featured a slew of RT originals, paint runs and one-offs, including collaborations with past Rampage Studios participants, including Paul Kaiju, Splurrt, MVH, Grumble Toy and myself (Tru:Tek). A hugely entertaining night for all involved, the beer flowed, toys were bought and fans and artists alike were able to reflect on what has been an amazing  4 years for the studio… Below is a small visual roun up of the many, many figures Jon prepared for the show. If you’re interested in checking out a walkthrough, then be sure to head to the new Softoy Hobby You Tube channel here for a (slightly shaky!) walkthrough I recorded before the shows opening… Enjoy!

Rampage Toys x The Tarantulas’ Nibblers at the Sofubi Saloon…

It’s been quite some time since we last saw a release of The Tarantulas’ Nibbler sofubi, so it came with great pleasure this morning to find that Rampage Toys‘ Jon Malmstedt will be reviving it for his next Sofubi Saloon event this month! Standing at around 4.5″ tall and featuring 4 points of articulation, the Real Head-produced figure has been cast in a banana yellow soft vinyl this time around, coming in Jon’s signature palette of blue sprays with red have painted detailing. Going on sale at the Pump Craft Beer Bar in Minami Ikebukuro on August 18th alongside the first painted Paleo Don and new Cyclops Dinos, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that a few are held back for online sales soon after…

Having worked on numerous paint runs together in the past, long time buddies Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys and Bwana Spoons of Gravy Toys have finally joined forces to work on an all-new sofubi release…  the unlikely duo Paleo Don and Morel Black! Co-designed by the pair with sculpting and production courtesy of Rampage, the dapper looking figures feature a suited body in a similar action figure-vein to the Suns of Brodarr line, with interchangeable Don/Morel head and arms from RT and GT respectively. Pictured here in test-shot form, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the first release within the next couple of months…
