Previewed earlier in the month, Brandt Peters‘ much talked about collaboration with Real x Head – the Astro-Bat – has finally been revealed in-full! As previously thought, the figure follows along the same lines as RxH’s previous collaborations with Paul Kaiju and MVH, featuring both head and arms attachments for the standard Chaosman body- albeit with a bat-like, Skelve twist! Likely to be making its first appearance at an upcoming Stranger Factory show (TBC), be sure to keep a close eye on both Brandt and Real x Head‘s Instagram feeds for more info on the figure soon…
Following in the footsteps of both Paul Kaiju and Mutant Vinyl Hardcore, Circus Posterus’ Brandt Peters is the latest North American artist to team up with Real x Head for the release of his very own Chaosman figure! Whilst the above image is all we have to go on at present, it would appear that the figure – dubbed Astro-Bat – will be taking on a similar appearance to Brandt’s signature Skelve character and recently released Death Bat, albeit with the standard 9″ tall CM body. Keep a close eye on both Brandt and Real x Head‘s Instagram feeds for more info on this intriguing project soon!
Bob Conge aka Plaseebo is proud to reveal that his unique blend of Americana and kaiju is set to feature at DCon this year for the very first time! Joining forces with Mechavirus at the Gorgoloid booth (#933), we bring you a quick rundown of the various one-off customs that the legendary artist will have on offer…
Spotted Mega Warui Neko// A one of a kind, 8″ tall custom mash up with Kaiju Coup based on the Warui Neko and Molezilla platforms, the figure comes complete with swirled glass eyes, resin fangs and a motion activated color changing LED unit. Sprayed in a mix of red, yellow and brown Monster Kolor paints, the piece comes signed and dated by Plaseebo.
Blue Eyed Skullo Tank// Mashing up Max Toy Co’s Kaiju Tank with a Plaseebo Skullo resin head, the piece stands at around 4″x4″, coming with a number of rusty, weathered washes, sprays and hand painted detailing. Once again, the figure comes signed and dated by the artist.
Robo Kong Fighter// Featuring the tank turret from Max Toy Co’s Kaiju Tank as well as the body of RealxHead’s Deep Space Monster, the figure has been treated to army green sprays, coming complete with cloth accessories and a mini dolls eye insert.
Plaseebo Mummy// Last but by no means least, Bob will also be bringing along a one-off custom of his original signature figure, the Mummy. Hand cast in resin, the 7″ tall figure has been given a stunning splattered neon yellow/orange paint job and swirled glass eye inserts. Comes signed and dated (2013) by the artist…
Yet more news from the Uamou camp this week, as the guys reveal their latest exclusives with Japanese retailer Yamashiroya, the “Galaxy Blue” Chaos Warrior and Bastard mini! Hand-painted by the legendary Goto-san alongside Uamou creator Ayako Takagi, the absolutely stunning pair will be touching down in limited numbers at Yamashiroya’s Ueno Stantion branch today (8/15) for an undisclosed sum. Unfortunately only available to customers of the physical store, those outside the Tokyo area are going to have to call in some big favours quick!
We took some time out yesterday to head over to Triclops‘ Toy Shack over in Walthamstow, London, to talk shop, bag some toys, and of course, check out Unbox Industries‘ incredible Invisible Man prototypes in-person! Based on 2000AD‘s fateful Frank Hart from early obscurity Visible Man, the release is set to feature a number of interpretations of the character, including an “OG” design from Skull Toys, plus “bootleg” versions in the form of (from left to right) Datadub’s cyborg, Paul Kaiju’s Mars Attacks homage, Real x Head’s cycloptic self-portrait and Matt Doughty’s Glyos Pheyden.
Once again taking designer toy production to a whole new level, Unbox have been hard at work experimenting with a mixture of new mediums for the release, with the full articulated, 12″ figure featuring hard vinyl muscles, guts and bones that have been seemingly impossibly skinned with a layer of super-soft vinyl- truthfully, even with the figures in-hand we were having trouble working out how these things were fitted so tightly!
With just a few more tweaks (plus the rumoured inclusion of another design from MVH!) to go before this monumental project heads into production, be sure to stay tuned for final proto reveals, paint tests and release details over the coming weeks…
