MAN-E-NEWS// The “Critters inspired” mini figure: Halloween Orange “Non-Con” Exclusives!

Our very own Tru:Tek has once agin teamed up with the Amazing Zectron for the latest batch of “Critters inspired” mini figures… the Halloween Orange “Non-Con” Exclusives! Whilst we’d have loved to send a batch of the mischevious little creatures to NYCC this week, there was unfortunately no one willing to take on such a big and dangerous task… so we’ve decided to stick them up in the Man-E-Toys store instead! Dedicated to the thousands of frustrated collectors who won’t be able to attend the event over the weekend, the hand cast neon rubber figures will be available this Friday from 9pm London time. Featuring a black acrylic rub from Tru:Tek, each Critter comes bagged, with a hand drawn header from Zectron, plus safety booklet for just $15 plus shipping… LIMITED TO 13 PIECES!

MAN-E-NEWS// The “Sitting” Adam Bomb custom from Eric Nilla…

Following the “Grim Jim” custom we posted last month (find out more here), Eric Nilla has just revealed details of his latest GPK Cheap Toy release, the “Sitting” Adam Bomb! Arguably the most popular (and elusive!) figure from classic 80’s mini figure line, Eric has kit-bashed and re-sculpted the standing figure to better represent the original trading card pose… No mention of a release date yet, but we’re guessing “Sitting” Adam Bomb will be joining Grim Jim (plus an another unrevealed GPK custom) in the Nilla store sometime soon…

MAN-E-UPDATE// The “Critters inspired” mini figures: SOLD OUT! But not for long…

but not for long…

Unbelievable! That’s the only word to describe the response we had to the “Critters inspired” mini figures last night… After putting an accumulated total of 68 rubber and resin variants in both the Bigmantoys and Man-E-Toys stores at 9pm, we were left with just 3 after 20 minutes (most disappearing in a matter of seconds!). We’d like to give a massive thank you to all the blogs, forums and artists who supported the launch, and of course all the dedicated collectors who managed to bag some from the first batch… Fear not if you missed out, there WILL be more soon! We’re just dealing with the backlog of orders from last night (shipping will start next Wednesday due to this weekend’s UK bank holiday), but stay tuned for further release dates next week. We’ve also had many enquiries for other colours, so you can be rest assured that once all of the neons/fleshies are out of the way, we’ll start looking into other variations too…

MAN-E-UPDATE// Zectron’s “Critters inspired” mini figures out today!

With Zectron‘s highly anticipated “Critters inspired” mini figures: Wave 2 hitting both the Man-E-Toys and Bigmantoys stores later on today (find out more here), we thought we’d share a few pics of the many different designs that will be on offer… Available in either bind-bagged neon, blind-bagged marbled and the standard flesh tone, these rubber variants will all be touching down in our store at 9pm (London time) tonight for $15 plus shipping. Like the Crites, but fancy them in a more traditional “art toy” material? Then you’ll be glad to know that Bigmantoys will be launching the resin version simultaneously for just $13 right here.

MAN-E-REVEAL// The “Critters inspired mini figures” Wave 2 from Zectron x Man-E-Toys x Bigmantoys…

Been wondering why our posting has got a little slack over the past few days? Well there is a very good reason dear readers, as this official press release should hopefully explain…

“In association with Bigmantoys and art toy blog Man-E-Toys, the Amazing Zectron aka Plastic Soul is proud to present the second wave of Critters inspired mini figures! (Check out our previous Critters coverage here) Originally produced in extremely limited numbers by Eric Nilla and sold solely through the Little Rubber Guys forum, the latest batch of Zectron’s debut toy (yep, his first toy sculpt ever!) will be coming in two distinct flavours; an authentic keshi-style rubber variant that has been produced by Tru:Tek over at Man-E-Toys, and a resin version from Lee over at Bigmantoys for the art toy purists… Both taking a wildly different approach in aesthetic (Tru:Tek has gone for a mixture of solid and marbled neons, whilst Lee has focused on “Graff-Eaty” hand paints, glossed clears, glitters, GITD and opaques- BOTH have also produced traditional flesh tones), there truly is something for every lover of retro mini-figs, art toys and cult horror!

Due to go on sale this Friday (24th August) at 9pm London time (1pm Pacific), the rubber edition will be available through the Man-E-Toys store for $15 (blind-bagged neons and flesh tone options available), whilst the resins will be hitting the Bigmantoys store (and October Toys forum) for $13 (various colour choices available). Both coming bagged and headed with a hand drawn design from Zectron, each and every purchase will also include a very special “safety booklet” on how to look after (and avoid getting eaten by) your very own Crite! (file attached) On top of that, Bigmantoys’ resin editions are also due to come housed in custom created egg packaging, sprayed in the same neon green and pink as the original film!”

Dimensions: 1.5″ x 1.5″

Edition sizes: Open run (Neon Marbled limited to 16)

Bagged, headed, with insert.

Made in the UK!

Head over to the Amazing Zectron or Bigmantoys blogs for more information/photos (we will also be posting a gallery of our own on Thursday), and expect more Critters inspired designs soon! Regular readers will also be glad to know that our regular toy coverage will resume again tomorrow…

MAN-E-NEWS// New B.U.F.F mini figures in the Muscle Things store…

After a month of waiting with baited breath, Alec over at Muscle Things is proud to reveal that the store is once more stocked to the brim with a brand new selection of B.U.F.F mini figures! Featuring the previously revealed BabyZilla and Mr T, the massive restock also sees the debut of another 6 awesome figures; Burt Reynolds, Freddy 2.0, Hollywood (B), Santa Cross, Underling and Wookalar, alongside the first showing of the super-authentic 5-pack B.U.F.F can… Kit-bashed and re-sculpted from a number of different artists including Nama-Niku, Halfaway and Alec himself, the figures have been cast in the exclusive Muscle Things “black magic” rubber, providing a great rubbery feel and 100% colour match. Priced at just $21 for the singles and $90 for the 5-pack, the 9 newbies are available in super-limited quantities on the Muscle Things store now…

MAN-E-UPDATE// The Critters inspired mini figure from The Mighty Zectron…

Ahead of a MASSIVE reveal planned for the beginning of next week (head over to our instagram feed @trutek for some clues!), we’ve decided to take a little look at the updated packaging for Zectron‘s second batch of Critters inspired mini figures… Although the original window box design (featured here) proved to be a massive success, the practicalities of custom making dozens of the things has lead to Zectron opting for a bag and header approach using the original Crite/spaceship panel artwork. To combat the loss of space (originally each panel carried its own design), the artist has also included a tongue-in-cheek safety booklet- hand drawn and presented in the same style of toy inserts from the 80s/90s, a wonderful addition to an  already great package! Unfortunately, once again these little guys have already been accounted for, but fear not! The original caster Eric Nilla will soon have an exclusive batch of red variants on his store soon… you may also want to check back for the big reveal next week (wink, wink!).
