Sofubi producer Algangu is proud to announce the release of his latest toy line, the Albino Zoo Series! Set to feature a number of officially licensed animals from the world of Manga, the first release will feature 2 very different characters – the “Cat Killer” from Toei’s Pero: Puss ‘N Boots and Osamu Tezuka’s adorable Unico – both coming cast in an unpainted purple/lavender soft vinyl. Debuting at Tokyo’s Hobby Round 14 this coming Sunday, December 20th, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the pair see an online release soon…

Joining the previously posted “Gamuratsuisuto” keshi (check him here if you haven’t already), Yutani Shouten has just revealed yet another figure he’ll be bringing along to Wonderfestival Summer ’15 this weekend, the officially licensed “Assaji” sofubi! Taken from the seminal Osamu Tezuka Manga “Buddha”, the snot nosed youth has been beautifully realised as a 2.75″ tall finger puppet-style figure, cast in a flesh tone vinyl and treated to brown, black and white sprays. Going on sale at Shouten’s WF booth this Sunday, July 26th, little Assaji has been priced at just 2,500yen ($20)…

Pop artist David Bondi has just revealed that the latest version of his Astronocchio figure has just touched down in his online store! A hilarious mash-up of Disney’s Pinocchio and Tezuka’s Astroboy, the originally sculpted figure stands at around 5″ tall, coming hand cast by the artist in a bright “blacklight yellow resin inspired by the classic Disney Marx figures of the early 1970’s. Limited to an edition of just 25, each Astronocchio is packed on a resealable blister card that pays homage to classic Disney graphics and Japanese robot schematics. Priced at just $65 plus shipping, head over to the store right here to check them out…

Dave Bondi is the latest artist to be announced in DKE Toys‘ exclusive SDCC line-up, bringing with him his latest resin creation, Astronocchio! A hilarious mash-up of Disney’s Pinocchio and Tezuka’s Astroboy, the originally sculpted figure stands at around 5″ tall, coming hand cast by the artist in a bright “retro” red resin with black hand gun accessory. Limited to an edition of just 25, each Astronocchio is packed on a blister card with vintage styled cut-out illustrations on the back. Priced at $65 a piece, the figures will be up for grabs at the DKE Toys SDCC booth (#5045) when the doors open on July 23rd…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Scum Hunter 3 sofubi from Star Case…

Star Case have revealed that their Boba Fett inspired Star Convoy sofubi, Scum Hunter, will be returning for a third edition later this month! Whilst we’re still having trouble working out exactly what the release will entail, it appears the figure will be offered up in a similar garage-kit fashion as most SC figures eventually see, coming cast in a blank white vinyl and packaged unassembled in an authentic card box. Due to be touching down in the Star Case store for a limited period starting Friday, June 20th, keep a close eye on their site for the full lowdown soon… But that’s not all! Shrouded in even more mystery than Scum Hunter 3, Star Case have also teased an upcoming, fully licensed Astroboy Star Convoy figure. Whilst no images are available at present (just the logos pictured below), you can be sure that as soon as we find anything, you guys will be the first to know…

Abell Octovan over at My Royal Ego shares his first work in progress for 2014, the stunning Astro Guy! Depicting Tezuka’s iconic Astro Boy as a fully grown adult (we’ll skip over the fact that humanoids can’t actually age!), the beautifully realised piece features the same signature double-horned hair do, pants and rocket boots, albeit with a chiseled, Buzz Lightyear-esque head and super pumped body! MAN-E-NEWS// Triton of the Sea’s Minota and Poriipeimos sofubi remakes from Medicom Toy…

Originally making an appearance back in 1972, Tezuka Productions and Nakajima Corporation’s Minota and Poriipeimos sofubi figures have been rereleased courtesy of Medicom Toy! Taken from the hugely popular “Triton of the Sea” anime that ran right through the seventies, the crazy looking pair have been faithfully reproduced from the original sculpts, standing at around 22cm tall each, with articulation at the head, arms and legs. Packed in an exclusive double header with images of the 1972 release, both Minota and Poriipeimos are up for grabs through the Medicom store for just 6,800yen plus shipping. Interested parties in the West are going to need to fill out the dedicated preorder form right here
