Krotpong x Violence Toy’s “Tokusatsu Beast Selection” custom one-offs…

Violence Toy have teamed up with Krotpong for their latest artist run, proudly presenting the Tokusatsu Beast Selection! Featuring all 4 figures from the initial VT line-up, each has been painted by Krotpong to resemble some of Japan’s most cherished I’ve action characters; Asogian Assassin as Spectreman, Time Gore as Tetsujin Tiger 7, Troll Borg as Kamen Rider 1 and the Death Car Exterminator as Kikader. Going on sale in the Krotpong store next Thursday, September 1 for an undisclosed sum, interested parties can take a closer look at the figures by checking out the artist’s Instagram feed right here

Kearjun’s “Piguman” YouZha sofubi…

Whilst we rather impatiently wait for more news of his upcoming figures Kella and Lekka, HK-based artist Kearjun has just unveiled an all-new version of his original soft vinyl figure YouZha, the “Pigumon” edition! Standing at around 8″ tall and featuring 5 points of articulation, the Fulci Zombi 2-inspired figure has been treated to a blue/flesh/red paint app inspired by Ultraman’s classic balloon-carrying foe Pigumon. Limited to a run of just 5 figures (including a special chase!), these will be going on sale via Instagram/e-mail lottery starting Monday, April 1st… Check out the dedicated IG post right here for the full lowdown on how to enter!

We’re coming to the end of yet another month in the world of toys and that can mean only one thing… a fresh batch of Elegab lottery sales! Opting to focus on his latest – and in our eyes greatest! – figure “Hyouga King”, two different versions of the 8″ tall, 3-headed mammoth are up for grabs; a “GID”, coming in glow soft vinyl with vivid neon sprays and a “Green”, cast in opaque green vinyl with a selection of primary and metallic sprays. Both priced at just 8,300yen ($69) plus shipping, anyone interested in bagging the pair are going to need to head over to the Elegab blog right here and follow the instructions on how to enter. Closing on Saturday, October 3rd, successful lottery applicants will be informed on Sunday, October 4th… Good luck to all who enter!


MAN-E-NEWS// Awesome Toy’s new “Fake Spectreman” sofubi test pulls revealed…

Originally teased right here at the beginning of July, the second round of Fake Spectreman figures from Awesome Toy have just been revealed in final test-pull form! With the ongoing series based on pachi (bootleg) renditions of P Productions’ classic tokusatsu character Spectreman, these 2 new versions have been inspired by a little known Brazilian comic, featuring altogether more angular and stylised looks than previous renditions of the super-cyborg. Currently at the paint sampling stage ahead of release through Medicom Toy soon, be sure to stay tuned for the full lowdown vet the next few weeks…

But that’s not all… On top of the new Spectreman release, Awesome Toy have also begun teasing their latest original toy too! Whilst we’re remains tight lipped at present, we can let you know that the project has more than a little to do with infamous Japanese urban legend, Jinmenken (the human face dog)… More news on that soon!

Elegab is proud to reveal something a little special for his latest round of lottery sales, introducing all-new figure, the breath-taking Hyouga King! Easily one of our favourite sculpts from the artist to date, the hulking figure stands at around 9″ tall, featuring a tokusatsu-inspired design that blends both organic and angular texture to form the unique looking wooly mammoth/two-headed jaguar mash-up you see above. Produced in a bright blue soft vinyl and treated to a wealth of metallic sprays for its first outing, Hyouga King has been priced at just 8,000yen ($65) plus shipping… Joining the new figure, Elegab is also offering up the latest version of “school monster” Gakkon. Produced in a crystal clear vinyl and adorned with primary metallic sprays, Gakkon has also been priced at 8,000yen ($65). Fancy picking either figure up? MAN-E-NEWS// Ummikko’s “Cobra Man” inspired sofubi prototype revealed…

Having had continued success with his debut sofubi Koninu, Monkey3000 over at Ummikko is proud to unveil a near-finished prototype for his latest vinyl figure! Drawing inspiration from classic tokusatsu characters as well as cult horror flick Dreamscape’s Cobra Man, the figure appears to be around the same scale as Koningu at 5.5″ tall, once again coming complete with articulation in both the arms and waist. Pictured here as a near-finished clay prototype, will all things going well, we should hopefully see the beast’s debut in soft vinyl before the year is out… Keep track of Monkey3000’s Instagram feed here for more news over the coming months!


MAN-E-NEWS// The officially licensed “Ultraman” vinyl figure from Playtoy x Unbox Industries…

The guys over at Unbox Industries have joined forces with up and coming toy producers Playtoy for an officially licensed, soft vinyl rendition of Tsuburaya’s Ultraman! Inspired by Bullmark’s classic chunky aesthetic, the iconic tokustsu character has been 3D sculpted by Unbox’s digital team, standing at just under 10″ tall and coming with a removable mask and “transformation device” accessory. Created as part of Ultraman’s on going 50th Anniversary celebrations, the figure is set for release through Playtoy at some point in the near future… Here’s hoping a few are held back for an online release through Unbox soon!
