“Adrift in a sea of stars, the necronaut silently haunts the Milky Way galaxy…”
Resin slinger Andy Tonge of newly formed FEAST Toys has kindly given us the heads up on a whole swathe of new resin figures available in-store right now, the first coming in the form of the awesome Necronaut custom bootleg! Kit-bashed from a vintage 3.75” astronaut figure, the skull-headed ghost of the stars has been hand cast in a number of different one-off colourways. Up for grabs with either a custom backer for $30 (GID $35), or a “cheapo” bag for just $10, the Necronaut can be found in the FEAST store here… Stay tuned for the lowdown on Tonge’s latest figure, the ROIDtrooper, later this week!
Fresh from the success of Dead DieBia$e & Co, the guys over at Goodleg Toys are proud to present their 2nd Series of Wrestlers of the Universe (WotU) figures, introducing Moneybash, Mermaniac, and the 2-Badders tag team, Nuke & Clutch! Once again kit-bashed from iconic 90s WWF and 80s MotU action figures, this initial batch, rather aptly titled the ‘Soda Pop’ edition, has been cast in a mix of translucent exhilirant colours. Priced at just $35 each or $120 for a set of 4, each figure comes packed with a header card from the legendary Ralph Niese. Preorders start this Sunday, at Midnight GMT+1 on the Goodleg store right here… Supply is said to be super-limited, so WotU fanboys better be fast if they want to get their fingers on these rad colourways!
Revealed way back in the summer of last year, the resurrected 1979 ALIEN action figure line from Super7 will finally be making it’s debut at SDCC next month! Under authorisation from 20th Century Fox, the guys are now in the final stages of producing the full series of 5 never before released toys as part of the new ReAction Figure Series (Retro-Action). Authentically stylised exactly as items from the “golden age” of action figures, each 3.75″ sculpt comes with approximately five points of articulation, accessories, and period-authentic blister card packaging. Super7 will be offering up a number of different exclusives for the con, so without further adieu, we bring you a round up of what will be on offer…

ALIEN Reaction Figure 2 Pack “Discovered Sales Samples”// Super7 tracked down a retired toy sales representative who had a storage unit filled with old catalogs and toys from the 1970s, including a most amazing find: cases of “ALIEN SALES SAMPLES” designated for 1979’s Toy Fair! Each package contains two figures – the ALIEN (Big Chap) and KANE (in Nostromo Space Suit) – in unpainted “test shot” blue plastic. These samples were intended for distribution to wholesale buyers looking for the “next big space movie” product in the 3 ¾” scale. Ultimately, the line was cancelled –as shown by the large red stamp on the box and enclosed letter to the sales staff – and these samples never were taken to the trade show… FULL DISCLAIMER: This never happened! In keeping with the mystery that surrounds the figures, Super7 have gone all-out with the production of a faux sales sample package! Featuring ‘prototype’ blue casts of both the Big Chap and Kane, the 2 pack has been packaged in an authentic ‘cancelled’ box with sales staff letter. Priced at $40 each, the set will be available at the Super7 booth next month…
ALIEN Reaction Figure bases and catalogs// Joining the 2 packages above, Super7 will also be offering up a number of free goodies as well! As well as an authentic ‘vintage’ style catalog featuring brand new info and shots of the 5 figures, the guys will also be handing out ALIEN 3.75″ figure bases to all that sign up to the S7 newsletter! We’ll be keeping an eye out for more info on the general release soon, but in the meantime, we suggest heading over to the Super7 Flickr feed here for a closer look at the awesome line…
Following our look at Bombermat Toys’ Phantom Lord earlier today, we bring word of yet another up and coming custom bootlegger making waves in the scene right now, Brody Kreps of Broken Pigeon… Recently debuting 3 new bootleg lines in the newly opened BP store, we managed to get some words from the elusive artist about his intentions behind these awesome looking boots–
Corpse Hoarder// Kit bashed using Arcane from Swamp Thing and a vintage Silver surfer, the Corpse Hoarder was inspired by Arcane and his creation of the UN-men. Not sure if your readers are familiar with the UN-men but they were freaks made by Arcane (Swamp Thing’s nemesis) out of random dead body parts and stitched together- In a weird way kind of what bootleggers do with dead toys… Standing at around 4″ tall, the figure comes with custom blister backer for $20 plus shipping.
Up and coming illustrator and regular October Toys forum member Krystal Lord (aka Kuri) has just revealed images of her latest project- taking on a whole host of vintage action figures and customising them in her wonderfully unique style! Featuring a mixture of standard 3.75″ Star Wars and Thundercat toys, plus a 12″ tall (1/6th) Stormtrooper, each piece has been intricately adorned with Kuri’s signature mix of dreamy colours, geometric shapes, organic cloud-like patterns and meticulous black outlining. No news as to whether these guys will ever be available to purchase, so if you’re intereted we suggest hitting Kuri up through her dedicated October Toys thread here with any enquiries.
“Awakened from the depths of Lake Michigan by a bunch if drunken Packers fans attempting to dye the lake green, the Kaiju immediately laid waste to Chicago reducing it to ashes and rubble!”
Ahead of the release of the Killer Kaiju this weekend (check out our previous post here), Peter Goral over at Killer Bootlegs kindly shares details of a very special edition that will be dropping soon… the Killer Kaiju Melt! Created alongside Concocted Curioddities, the oozing figure has been coated in thick layers of vinyl paint and finished in a variety of Monster Kolor sprays. Due to touch down in the KB store at some point next week, Killer Kaiju Melt will be available in EXTREMELY limited numbers!
Aside from the Killer Kaiju, Peter has also been putting the finishing touches to an all-new revised version of the highly sought after Frankenfett! This time around featuring articulation in both the arms and head (for that classic “Frank” pose!), the Remco Frankenstein/Bobba Fett kitbash is due for a general release at some point over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately (for us anyway!), the metallic sprayed “Radioactive Uppercut” exclusive pictured sold out within a matter of minutes… here’s hoping for more crazy painted runs soon!
Following our preview last week, Peter Goral over at Killer Bootlegs is happy to reveal that the highly sought after Frankenfett will be touching down in-store later today! Featuring the same Boba Fett body from the recent Jeremy Bulloch release, the figure has been kit-bashed with vintage Remco Frankenstein head from their legendary Universal Monsters 80’s toy line. Cast in a black resin with head and hands being glow in the dark, the release has been limited to 25 pieces with 5 reverse colorway “chase” figures, each priced at just $25 a piece. Running alongside the standard release, Peter will also be releasing a series of custom variants throughout the next 2 months. The first coming in an insane mixed-parts neon number, expect to see a new one added every Friday for $65 plus shipping… Stay tuned for news of Killer Bootlegs’ next release, the Killer Kaiju, very soon…
